Agencies responding to fire included Dearborn Fire Rescue, which posted this photo on its Facebook page showing a Cincinnati Fire Division boat playing its part in the response/
The Ohio River was temporarily closed between Mile 499 and Mile 501 on November 9 when an engine fire reportedly broke out aboard the towboat Captain Kirby Dupuis when in transit near Belleview, Ky.
Although the crew was able to extinguish the fire with its fire suppression system a re-flash occurred. As local broadcaster WLWT5 reported, the fire was eventually extinguished with the help of multiple local agencies.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Captain Kirby Dupuis towboat was delivered to Florida Marine Transporters by Horizon Shipbuilding in 2010.
