
Navy funds FY 2016 LCS construction

APRIL 1, 2016 — The Navy has issued modifications to its block buy contracts with Lockheed Martin Corp., Baltimore, MD, and Austal USA, Mobile, AL, to fund construction of one FY 2016 from each team.
The Lockheed Martin award fund construction of one Freedom variant LCS at the Lockheed Martin team’s shipbuilder, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, Marinette, WI. The Austal award funds construction of one Independence variant ship at its Mobile, AL, shipyard.
The contracts are each subject to a congressional cost cap of $564,000,000.The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, DC, is the contracting activity.
