Houston headquartered Okeanus Science & Technology, LLC (Okeanus) has hired Phil Clements as lead engineer.
Okeanus is a rental, sales and services organization, with in-house equipment manufacturing and engineering capabilities for the oceanographic and subsea professional. With the acquisitions of Sound Ocean Systems, Inc. (founded in 1978) and DT Marine Products, Inc. (founded in 1999), Okeanus is a leader in the design and build of oceanographic winches, handling systems and LARS.
“We have known Phil for many years and have worked with him in the past as he was the lead engineer on the development of our dual drum mechanical mine sweep winches (MMS). We are thrilled to have him as a full-time employee of the company,” said Don Brockett, COO of Okeanus.
Clements has worked in the maritime industry since the mid 90’s, and brings over 25 years of experience to the Okeanus team. He has worked as a design engineer, senior mechanical engineer, and engineering manager and will bring his engineering and project management skills to Okeanus’s expanded manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas.
Okeanus’s recent expansion was in response to increased demand for the design and manufacture of large capacity winches, A-frames and traction winches.
“We’ve expanded production and the services we offer and tripled the size of our Texas facility,: said Brockett. Bringing in Phil allows our team to draw on his technical skills and experience with concept development, problem solving and proposals. The end result will be streamlined internal processes and increase productivity.”
Clements is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas. He has extensive experience with umbilical winches and A-frames for working class ROVs, and in designing traction winches.
