Vigor's Everett, WA, shipyard

MARCH 8, 2017 — Vigor Industrial is to close its Everett, WA, shipyard, according to local media.

The Port of Everett Port Commission is considering a proposal that would see the shipbuilder pay the port $918,515 to end its lease earlyand transfer ownership of its buildings, cranes and other property on the 3.6-acre site.

Everett-based HeraldNet.com quotes Vigor Senior Vice President Jill Mackie as saying that, in recent years, the company has only done “minimal work” at the shipyard, which typically had only a skeleton staff of about 10 and that with busier and bigger shipyards in Seattle and Tacoma, staying in Everett “no longer makes business sense for Vigor.”
