Keppel AmFELS wins $100 million land rig order

DECEMBER 29, 2014 — There’s no rule that says everything that’s built in a shipyard has to float. Proving that point, Keppel AmFELS LLC,  the Brownsville, TX, based wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has won a contract valued at over $100 million to build one of the world’s largest land drilling rigs for a major operator.

The rig is scheduled for delivery in mid-2016 and Keppel AmFELS will be undertaking its engineering, procurement and construction of the rig. The rig will be capable of operating in harsh conditions.
