Detyens wins $11.7 million Navy contract

DECEMBER 21, 2018 — Detyens Shipyards Inc., North Charleston, SC, has been awarded an $11,753,763 contract for a 60 calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul/drydocking of USNS Laramie (T-AO 203).

Work will include superstructure blast and paint, port side fixed port light repairs, deck steel replacement, starboard main engine 12,000-hour overhaul, fuel injector overhaul, main engine clutch- coupling overhaul, port power take-off clutch air control panel replacement, overhaul ships service diesel generator number 4, constant tension winch number 1, drydocking and undocking, propeller system maintenance, overhauling sea valves, underwater hull cleaning and painting, stern tube seal maintenance and marine growth inhibitor anode replacement.

The contract includes options that, if exercised, would bring its total contract value to $12,161,073.

Work is expected to begin on March 30, 2019, and to be completed by May 28, 2019.

The contract was competitively procured, with proposals solicited via the Federal Business Opportunities website, with two offers received.
