
Blount Boats building Chicago tour boat

Shoreline Sightseeing operates a number of water taxi tours to Chicago attractions
DECEMBER 14, 2016—This past summer, Blount Boats, Inc., Warren, RI, signed a contract to build a 100 ft x 35 ft steel passenger tour boat for Shoreline Sightseeing Co., Chicago, IL. The new vessel was designed by Seacraft Design, LLC, Sturgeon Bay, WI. The proposed 300-plus passenger, Subchapter K vessel will operate as an architectural tour boat in partially protected waters.
Propulsion will be supplied by two Volvo D13 MH, 400 hp diesel engines, ZF W325 gearboxes, 2.933:1 ratio and two 44 in. diameter, four-blade propellers. It will also be equipped with two 65 kW John Deere generators.
It will have a speed of 11 knots.
Construction on the steel-hulled vessel i well underway.
This is the second vessel being built by Blount for Shoreline Sightseeing and delivery is set for spring 2016.
