
Havyard sells another design package to China

JUNE 17, 2014 — Chinese shipyard Fujien Mawei Shipbuilding has returned to Norway’s Havyard Group with an order for design package for a Havyard 832 L SE PSV. The vessel is being built for Sinopec and will be third Havyard vessel in a row in its fleet renewal program, following a Havyard 843 AHTS, delivered in 2012 and a Havyard 832 PSV, which is scheduled to be delivered from Fujien Mawei in February 2015.
The latest PSV is scheduled to be delivered from Fujien Mawei in March 2016.
Since the launch of Havyard Design in 2005, Havyard has sold over 70 design packages, eleven of them for construction in Chinese yards.
“We have established a good foothold in in China, which is important for future growth and development of our design and equipment package deliveries,” says Havyard Senior VP Sales , Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane. “Additionally, we see that Chinese shipowners are building more advanced offshore vessels. We … are recognized by the best offshore vessel builders and the ship owning branches of the two biggest Chinese oil companies Sinopec and CNOOC. This is a good foundation for continuing our growth in delivering design and equipment packages to the Chinese market.”
Sinopec, is the second largest oil company in China and the largest producer and supplier of refined oil products. The ship owning branch of the company supports its E&P activities in Chinese waters. Sinopec also charters in OSV services from other shipowners to supportits activity.
