LNG-SOKOTOAUGUST 30, 2012 — The 135,000 cu.m LNG Sokoto is set to arrive at Damen Shiprepair Brest, France, for maintenance work, including drydocking.  It is the first LNG carrier to be booked into the shipyard (the former Sobrena) since its acquisition by Damen Shipyards in 2011.

The LNG carrier is owned by Bonny Gas Transport and managed by London-based Shell International Trading & Shipping Company Ltd.

Jos Goris, managing director of Damen Shiprepair Brest, says: “We are very pleased with this order and we expect more LNG vessel owners to follow. The yard’s workforce is experienced in repairing LNG vessels and it is good to see this business returning to Brest.”

Damen Shiprepair Brest is a well-established repair yard with modern facilities. The yard employs over 200 staff and has three graving dry docks, one of which is one of the largest in Europe with dimensions of 420 m x 80 m.
