
Zamakona Yards to build Voith Schneider tug for Haifa

APRIL 15, 2014 — Spanish shipbuilder Zamakona Yards has won an international tender to build a 70 ton bollard pull Voith Schneider tug for the Port of Haifa, Israel.
The tug is a sister vessel to tugs already operating in the port, with Voith Design optimizing the hull shape and including some improvements required by the client.
The tug 31.50 m x 12.50 m tug will be classed with Lloyd’s Register, and the class notation includes FIFI 1 with water spay.
The tug is equipped with two Voith 32R5 propulsion units coupled to two MAN 8L27/38 main engines, each developing 2,670 kW.
The aft deck is fitted with a towing hook and a Hatlapa towing winch.
