The Empire State VII, SUNY Maritime College’s new purpose-built training ship, is the first of five National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV) designated for each of the United States’ maritime academies. This world-class ship serves a dual purpose: providing exceptional training for future merchant mariners and supporting humanitarian and disaster relief efforts during national emergencies. The Empire State VII is equipped with a variety of specialized spaces, including a full training bridge, modern hospital facilities, a helicopter pad, and accommodations for up to 600 cadets, offering a top-tier maritime academic environment at sea.

Tour Highlights:

  • Bridge & Navigation Systems: Experience the high-tech command center, where students learn real-time ship operations and navigation.
  • Engine Room: Explore the heart of the ship’s mechanical operations, offering insight into engine systems and the vital role they play.
  • Lecture & Laboratory Facilities: Learn about the academic spaces equipped with cutting-edge technology for engineering, maritime studies, and emergency response training.

The Empire State VII is not only a tool for education, but also an asset for fostering the next generation of merchant mariners in a secure and dynamic environment.
