Naval architect firm ICE expands Galati operation

JANUARY 7, 2016 — Isle of Man headquartered naval architecture and marine engineering consultancy ICE (International Contract Engineering), has expanded the design facilities of its subsidiary in Galati, Romania and is recruiting 50 additional engineers to help deliver its order book. That will bring its total number of employees to 350, most of them working on current contracts in both the commercial and offshore sectors.

ICE’s expansion in Galati has added a new annex containing a further modern office landscape with associated meeting room and other facilities to its 8,000 square meter design center.

ICE acquired the operation, a former ship research institute, fifteen years ago under a privatization agreement. Regular investments since then have provided the company with substantial building upgrades, up to the minute IT hardware and software, as well as comprehensive training and development.
