Damen’s Yichang Shipyard in China has laid the keel for a 6,000 cu.m LNG bunkering tanker. Ordered by Estonian energy company Elenger (formerly Eesti gas), the 99.8 m long vessel is set to start operations in the second half of next year.

The Ice Class 1 A vessel will operate year round. Its service area will cover the northern and eastern part of the Baltic Sea and focus on the Gulf of Finland. The vessel will be able to bunker tankers, cargo ships, service craft, passenger vessels and service craft in both ports and offshore waters.

Elenger currently uses road tankers to refuel Tallink’s LNG-powered Megastar ferry, which operates between Tallinn and Helsinki.
