Videos released on YouTube showed giant Evergreen containership under tow after being freed. It went no further than the Great Bitter Lake.

Egypt’s Al Ahram newspaper reports that the Ismailia Economic Court today agreed to lift its order impounding the Ever Given, the giant containership that had blocked the Suez canal for nearly a week back in March. Since it was finally freed, the ship and its crew have languished in the Great Bitter Lake, caught in a financial dispute between the Suez Canal Authority and the vessel’s owner, Shoei Kisen Kaisha, and insurer, the UK P&I Club.

Al Ahram reports that on Sunday, the Suez Canal Authority said it would sign a settlement agreement with the owner Wednesday and that the ship will then be free to leave the Canal and continue its voyage to Rotterdam.

Reportedly the Ever Given will leave the Suez canal accompanied by two tugboats and with the guidance of two Suez Canal pilots
