Chevron Marine Lubricants will be using the Nor-Shipping event in Oslo, June 3-7, to present IMO 2020 solutions that include its new Taro Ultra range of global sulfur cap-ready cylinder oil lubricants, drip oil analysis DOT.FAST testing program and FAST equipment condition monitoring service.
In addition, at 1.00 p.m. on June 4, Chevron will host a seminar in the Nor-Shipping VIP Room that will explore key trends impacting shipping in the run up to the implementation of the IMO 2020 emissions regulation.
Most shipowners will comply with the fast approaching IMO global sulfur cap deadline either by bunkering low sulfur fuel alternatives versus installation of scrubbers on board. But, either way, cylinder oil lubricant use will be impacted.
Choosing the right cylinder oil with the correct BN and feed rate can be particularly challenging for ship owners navigating the route to IMO 2020 compliance requirements and bunkering different types of fuel.
Having launched the new Taro Ultra range of cylinder oil lubricants in in September 2018, Chevron will use Nor-Shipping to advise and educate the ship owning community on transitioning their cylinder oil lubricant use in preparation for fuel sulfur-constricted operations in 2020.
At its June 4 seminar, Chevron experts and invited speakers will deliver the latest update regarding the IMO 2020 regulation. Topics to be discussed will include fuel oil quality and potential operational issues related to the supply and use of 0.50% sulfur fuel oils.
Among the speakers will be Monique Vermeire, Chevron Fuels Technologist, who is a member of the CIMAC Fuel Oil WG7 panel, convener of the ISO Classification and Specification of Marine Fuels Working Group and represents Chevron in other industry organizations such as IPIECA and EI.
Chevron Brand and Marketing Manager Ian Thurloway will also be speaking. With over a decade of marine industry experience, he has been a key player in the roll out of Chevron’s new cylinder oil range.
