The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) has appointed Capt. Ghulam Hussain as Deputy Director (Maritime Affairs) with responsibility for Bahamas representation at IMO and intergovernmental meetings.

In 2014 he joined the Nautical Institute (London) as Accreditation Manager and headed the Dynamic Positioning (DP) Accreditation Department, extending his expertise in overseeing its worldwide DP Scheme at a crucial time for the offshore industry.

“Captain Hussain brings to this post a comprehensive list of qualifications and accomplishments,” said Capt. Dwain Hutchinson, Managing Director and CEO of the BMA. “He is a well-respected figure in the maritime field and the shipping industry, having held senior roles in various professional organizations, with commendable and inspirational world-wide exposure and considerable experience in dealing with global maritime issues. His expertise, talent and skills are a welcome addition to our organization and we are delighted that he has chosen to join us. Captain Hussain will be taking over from Marie Caillerie whose contributions have been greatly appreciated by us all.
