USCG reopens Mississippi after multi-vessel collision
Written by Nick BlenkeyAUGUST 14, 2014 — Coast Guard Captain of the Port, New Orleans, reopened the Mississippi River to all traffic transiting around the International Matex Tank Terminals (IMTT) between mile marker 96 and mile marker 98, Wednesday at 2 p.m. The river had been closed after a multi-vessel collision (see earlier story).
The Coast Guard said that the disabled vessel, Flag Gangos, was no longer impeding traffic, but that a slow-bell requirement was still in effect in the vicinity of the IMTT facility.
The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the incident.
