Marcon brokers another tug sale

OCTOBER 1, 2012 — Marcon International, Inc., Coupeville, Wash., has brokered the sale of the 1996-built twin screw tug King Philip to Latin American interests on a private basis.

The 96.0 ft x 34.0 ft x 17.9 ft  tug was the third tug built by its former owner, family-run Seaboats, Inc., at its shipyard facility in Fall River, Massachusetts for its in-house use.

King Philip, designed by Jonathan Laiby of Woods Hole, is powered by a pair of CAT D399 turbo-charged diesels developing a total of 2,250 BHP at 1,225 RPM  and driving fixed pitch propellers through Reintjes 5.976 gears.

Towing gear consists of a single drum Almon Johnson, GM4-71 diesel powered winch with approximately 2,000 ft of 2 inch wire and a stern roller.

The ABS loadlined tug is fitted with an upper pilot house andis  well suited for pushing in the notch, as well as coastal and ocean towing.

King Philip is being reflagged to foreign registry.

Marcon International Inc. has brokered 30 sales and charters to-date this year, including five tug sales totaling 12,800 HP and six tug charters. It says that several additional sales and charters are pending and expected to conclude within the next week.
