Built by Halter Marine, Inc. in 1989, she has the following dimensions: overall length – 208 feet, waterline length – 90 feet, extreme beam – 42 feet, max navigational draft -14 feet, light displacement: -1,394 tons, full displacement 2,238 tons.

You can access the on-line auction HERE

The ship is currently located at the Naval Inactive Ships On-Site Maintenance Office at 93051 Waipio Point Access Road, Waipahu, HI 96797-3272 and the successful bidder is required to remove the vessel from the Navy facility within 30 days after contact award.

As of this morning, there had been nine bids, with the high bid being $211,025.

Consultant Tim Colton comments: “The John McDonnell had been marked for recycling, which indicates that MSC found a lack of interest from allied navies to which it might be transferred. This new approach may indicate that they see commercial uses for her, possibly in the offshore industry.”
