Capt Alex Sweeney now VP project ops at Crowley solutions
Written by Nick BlenkeyOCTOBER 2, 2012 — Captain Alex Sweeney has joined Crowley’s solutions group as vice president, project operations. Captain Sweeney, who most recently served as vice president of operations for Crowley’s petroleum distribution group in Alaska, will remain in Anchorage and report to Michael Johnson, vice president, project management.
Crowley’s solutions group is a Project Management Organization providing marine solutions as a prime contractor for the energy and resource extraction industries. The specialized team, which has a Project Management Office (PMO) in Houston, provides turnkey marine solutions through the company’s diverse capabilities, assets and world-class project management skills.
Captain Sweeney will be responsible for the planning, coordination and management of select solutions projects. He will also assist the solutions business development team in pursuing project opportunities.
Captain Sweeney began his career with Crowley in 1980, working on tugboats, and his experience spans all sectors of the maritime industry. In particular, his experience working in remote locations and the Arctic will be an invaluable asset to the solutions team.
