Japan Marine United delivers third in series of advanced 3,055 TEU box ships

Shipbuilder Japan Marine United Corporation has delivered Wan Hai 323 the latest in a series of eight new 3,055 TEU containerships being built for Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines.
The ships are the first Japanese-built vessels to receive the DNV GL SmartShip notation. They are being built at the Kure Shipyard and can carry containers with a maximum of 12 rows by 6 stages in the hold and a maximum of 14 rows by 7 stages on the deck.
Delivered last month, Wan Hai 323 is the third in the series and has a length of 203.5 meters, a depth of 16.6 meters and a draft of 11.5 meters.
The ships in the series offer significantly improved environmental and operational performance thanks to a wide optimum hull form that delivers low resistance and high efficiency. Additionally, by using the latest analysis technology and optimizing the LV-Fin and ALV-Fin energy-saving devices fuel efficiency is significantly improved.
Powered by a MAN B&W 7S70ME-C10.5 diesel engine, the containerships have a maximum cruising speed of 21.6 knots and meet the IMO EEDI phase 3 level of efficiency that is scheduled to be applied to vessels contracted after 2022.
