Singapore prohibits crew change for seafarers with recent travel history to India

According to India’s Directorate General of Shipping, India now provides 9.35% of the global seafarers and rank thirds in the list of seafarer-supplying nations.

However, with coronavirus surging in India, the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that from April 23, 2021, 2,359 hours, all long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with recent travel history (including transit) to India within the last 14 days will not be allowed entry into Singapore, or transit through Singapore.

GAC Hot Port News reports that the following crew change will not be allowed in the Port of Singapore:

• Crew with recent travel history to India within the last 14 days preceding arrival to Singapore. This includes sign-on crew traveling to Singapore by flight as well as sign-off crew from vessels that have called at India; and

• Sign-on crew transiting India on their connecting flights to Singapore.
