Natasia Pilides leaves shipping post to become Cyprus’s Minister of Energy

Natasa Pilides, leaving Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister post to become Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry.

In a reshuffle of his cabinet last week, the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, promoted Shipping Deputy Minister Natasa Pilides to Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry.

Named Cyprus’s first Shipping Deputy Minister two years ago, Pilides has been active in promoting Cyprus as an important maritime hub and played an import role in developing Cyprus’s plans for facilitating crew changes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She will be succeeded as Shipping Deputy Minister by Vasilis Demetriades who previously had been working at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport as a seconded national expert on policy.
