Island Offshore orders advanced subsea support vessel

island offshoreIsland Offshore, in which the Chouest and Ulstein families are partners, has ordered an advanced subsea support vessel from STX OSV.

To be built to the Rolls-Royce UT 737 CD design, it will have an overall length of 96 m with a beam of 21 m. The vessel will be equipped with one 125 tons offshore crane and ROV systems for operations up to 3,000 m water depth. It will be designed with a moon pool, accommodations for 60 persons and according to NOFO standards for oil spill response.

The value of the contract amounts to more than NOK 500 million (about $87 million).

Delivery is scheduled from STX OSV’s Brevik shipyard in Norway in the first quarter of 2014. The hull of the vessel will be delivered from STX OSV’s Braila shipyard in Romania.
