Another Suda liftboat set for delivery

SUDA 300 4-LT

MARCH 16, 2015 — A. K. Suda, Ltd., Metairie, LA, has successfully completed the design of a 300 ft (91.5m) truss-legged liftboat.

The vessel, the Teras Lyza is being delivered to its owners in first quarter 2016 by shipbuilder Triyards Marine and follows on the heels of the world’s largest pipelegged liftboat, the SUDA 335-L3, delivered last year.

The state-of-the-art Teras Lyza is a four-legged, self-propelled, self-elevating, general service SUDA 300-L4T liftboat. It is ABS classed with Unrestricted Service, + A-1, +AMS.

The hull dimensions are 50 m x 30 m x 4.5 m.

It has one leg encircling crane of 200T, and a 70T pedestal crane. The quarters arrangement can accommodate 85 persons including crew. Cargo deck area is 740 sq.m of which 450 sq.m is rated for 10 t/sq.m and the balance for 5 t/sq.m/

The self-elevating unit is capable of working in water depths up to 236 ft (72 m) and has a CAP 437 heliport, capable of supporting a Sikorsky S76 or Bell 412 helicopter.

According to the firm’s CEO, Mr. Ajay Suda, “In keeping with our tradition of providing cost effective solutions, there were a number of innovations in this design, the most notable one being the specially designed jacking unit housing that accommodates the traditional pipe leg liftboat jacking system. Pipe leg jacking systems are traditionally low cost, high endurance systems.”

In addition to the SUDA 300-L4T,  also under construction are a 335 ft three-legged truss design SUDA 335-L3T and a 320ft four-legged truss design SUDA 320-L4T.
