STX France floats out Hapag Lloyd Cruises newbuild
Written byJULY 11, 2012 — Hapag Lloyd Cruises reports that its newbuild cruise ship Europa 2 was floated out of the building dock of STX France’s Saint Nazaire shipyard on July 6.
The ship is now at the outfitting pier for completion of the interior.
A total of 835 shipyard workers are involved in the construction of the new ship which is set for the spring of 2013. Its 14-day maiden voyage from Hamburg to Lisbon will take place May 11- 25, 2013.
Europa 2 will be positioned in the luxury segment as a lifestyle-oriented, casual alternative. The ship will offer a maximum of 516 guests more space per passenger than any other cruise liner. It will have 251 all-balcony suites. All the ship suites have a veranda and a minimum size of 28 square metres. Eight restaurants as well as six bars will offer culinary diversity.
