
Hijacked chemical tanker may be pirate mother ship
Written by Nick BlenkeyNATO is warning that the M/V LIQUID VELVET, a Marshall Islands flagged, Greek owned chemical tanker, may be being used as a pirate mothership. It was last reported making way 120 nm off the coast of Somalia in vicinity of 10 22N 058 33E. The vessel was pirated on October 31, 2011, and neither the vessel or crew have been released from pirate control.
Masters are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating through this area, and maintain maximum CPA with any ship acting suspiciously.
