apl_logo_135APL has signed an agreement to fit the main engine of one of its 10,000 TEU containerships with a fuel savings system that uses cavitation to create a highly stable heavy fuel and water emulsion. Developed by Neftech Pte. Ltd., Singapore, the system produces fuel savings that, says Neftech, have been certified by ABS as producing fuel savings of 7.6 percent on the main engine and 8.6 percent on the auxiliary engine of a 2,600 TEU containership.

The latest agreement with APL follows an agreement announced on January 25, 2012 that saw APL purchase Neftech main engine systems for four of its 2,500 TEU ships. Two of those systems have already been installed and the third one will be delivered this month with the fourth unit scheduled to be delivered in May 2012.
