Sinopacific books first Mexican OSV order

AUGUST 5, 2014 — China's Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group has signed a contract with Mexican shipping company Naviera Petrolera Integral S.A. de C.V. for the construction of three SPP17A platform supply vessels. They will be built at Sinopacific’s Zhejiang Shipyard and are set for delivery before the end of 2015. They will be used by PEMEX in support oil and gas development projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

This marks the first entry into the Mexican market for Sinopacific’s own “SP” brand offshore support vessel designs.

The SPP17A is a small PSV with an overall length of 61.8m, moulded breadth of 14.0 m, molded depth of 5.8 m, deadweight of 1,700 t, design draft of 4.3 m, and accommodations for 24 persons. The SPP17A  features a very efficient and fuel low consumption electric DP II propulsion system. Thanks to optimization of its dimensions, equipment arrangement, cabin layout, and structural design, it achieves excellent performance in terms of design parameters, stowage, ease of operation, comfort, and deadweight. The design has previously been ordered by a number of European shipowners.

The SP design vessels are designed by Shanghai Design Associates (SDA), a branch of Sinopacific specializing in offshore supply vessels design.
