Tuco books another wind service workboat order

MAY 17, 2016 – Denmark's Tuco Marine Group has won a new order for an 11m wind farm service boat from its ProZero series of fast rescue boats, daughter craft and workboats.

The order, from an undisclosed customer in the European offshore market, is Tuco's third sale a row for the 11 m wind farm service boat. The boats are designed specifically as daughter craft for the service operation vessels (SOVs) set to to enter the offshore wind market.

Designed in close collaboration with industry experts, the ProZero 11 m wind farm service boat is constructed to be lifted on and off larger mother vessels using a single point davit system. It can be outfitted with hook systems of the owner's choice.

The vessel is constructed from carbon fiber composites to meet the industry's focus on weight and  fuel efficiency. As well as requiring less operational power, the vessel's low weight also enables it to be used as a fairly large daughter craft to vessels not capable of handling heavier boats.

The boat offers a spacious foredeck and has a purpose-build docking and fender system for easy access to the offshore wind turbines.

The vessel features a twin waterjet installation fitted to inboard diesel engines, and operates at a service speed above 22 knots, transporting eight passengers plus 500 kg of cargo on the foredeck.
