craig-psvNorth Star Shipping, a division of Aberdeen, Scotland, based Craig Group, is to invest £50 million in building two new platform supply vessels at Astilleros Balenciaga SA in northern Spain. The two IMT-982 design vessels are being built to support a major new North Sea support contract awarded North Star by Talisman Energy (UK) Ltd.

The two PSV’s will be 83 m long with an 18 m beam and will have diesel electric propulsion systems. They have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of Talisman Energy in the North Sea.

Due for delivery from the Spanish shipbuilder in the second and fourth quarter of 2013, they will bring the Craig Group fleet to 37 and reinforce its position as the biggest wholly U.K. owned offshore support fleet.
