Oman police interceptors to have Rolls-Royce waterjets

JANUARY 14, 2016 — Finland’s Marine Alutech Oy Ab has signed a contract with Royal Oman Police, Sultanate of Oman, covering the delivery of fourteen Watercat K13 Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC). The vessels are to be delivered by end of 2017.

Marine Alutech has awarded Rolls-Royce a contract to supply 28 waterjets for the vessels, which have a wide range of operating characteristics, but are especially suitable for patrolling, interception and rescue roles in all weather conditions.

Propulsion is provided via two 651 kW diesel engines with twin Rolls-Royce Steel Series 32A3 waterjets.

The Watercat K13 has a top speed of over 50 knots and a range exceeding 200 nautical miles, fully loaded.
