Callan Marine to add another new dredge

The General Marshall is an 18-inch cutter suction dredge that will join the ranks of Callan Marine’s fleet in late 2022.

Galveston, Texas, headquartered Callan Marine continues to expand its fleet. In May last year, it took delivery of the 32-inch cutter suction dredge General MacArthur. Then, In July last year, it reported that construction was underway on a new 28-inch dredge, the General Bradley. Today, the company reports that another new dredge, an 18-inch cutter suction dredge to be named the General Marshall, will join the Callan’s fleet in 2022.

At 194 feet in length and 41 feet wide, the General Marshall will have a maximum digging depth of 60 feet, a dredge pipe diameter of 18 inches, and a 300 hp. cutter.

To be built by DSC Dredge in Reserve, La., it will have an overall horsepower of 3,005 hp.

“Our cutter suction dredge fleet continues to grow in order to meet the demands of the coastal market,” said Maxie McGuire, President of Callan Marine. “The General Marshall will add increased capabilities and response for maintenance and improvement dredging, allowing us to serve more clients in the public and private sector.”

The General Marshall will join the ranks of Callan Marine’s other dredges: the 32-inch General MacArthur, the 28-inch General Bradley, the 18-inch General Pershing, the 16-inch General Patton, and the 12-inch General Eisenhower.
