Nichols Brothers launches second Lindblad Expeditions vessel

SEPTEMBER 14, 2018 — Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) has launched the second of two 100-passenger cruise vessels for Lindblad Expeditions. Ordered in December 2015, the vessels are designed for expedition cruising in Coastal California; Baja, California; Alaska; the Pacific Northwest, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize.

The first vessel; the M/V National Geographic Quest has operated within the Lindblad Expeditions fleet since July 2017.

The second vessel, M/V National Geographic Venture, launched Monday at Nichols Brothers shipyard in Freeland, WA.

The 238'-6" x 44' x 10' Jones Act coastal cruise vessel is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built expedition vessel made for exploring coastal waters, shallow coves, and fast-moving channels where wildlife congregate; while sailing with the luxury of supreme comfort.

Designed by Jensen Maritime with interiors by Tilberg, the 3,200 hp twin screw diesel vessel has a service speed of 12 knots and accommodates 100 passengers in 50 spacious cabins. It offers open decks for wildlife viewing, and specialty tools for exploration.

The U.S. flagged National Geographic Venture will transfer to Nichols Brothers' pier side facility in Langley, WA, for final outfitting and sea trials, before being delivered to Lindblad Expeditions in October 2018.
