DECEMBER 30, 2013 — Bergen, Norway, headquartered Odfjell Drilling reports that on December 28 the semisubmersible offshore drilling rig Deepsea Aberdeen, currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in Korea, experienced water ingress on a pontoon while moored at the shipyard's quay.
Immediate evacuation was commenced and the rig was stabilized on the sea bed with draft at around 21 meters.
No injuries to personnel have been reported.
Odfjell Drilling says it "is awaiting information from DSME and will submit more information in due time."
Deepsea Aberdeen is an enhanced GVA7500 harsh environment design rig and will be a sister rig to the Deepsea Atlantic and Deepsea Stavanger, both previously delivered from DSME.
