DECEMBER 20, 2019 — Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has booked its first order for an engine equipped with its Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP-EGR) system. The 7UEC60LSE-Eco-A2-EGR engine has been ordered by Oshima Shipbuilding for a 99,000 dwt bulk carrier that will be operated by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line)

J-ENG has developed the Low Pressure EGR System as a solution for meeting IMO Tier III NOX reduction requirements.

J-ENG’s LP-EGR utilizes low pressure exhaust gas from the turbocharger outlet and has no waste water drainage from the water treatment system. As well as eliminating problems with waste water diposal, this concept simplifies outfitting, operation and maintenance of the sysem.

During Tier Ⅱ operation, the LP-EGR system can use a reduced exhaust gas recirculation ratio, lowering uel oil consumption,

J-ENG says the LP-EGR can be supplied for other manufacturers’ engines.
