Moran Towing Corporation and New Orleans-based Bisso Towboat Co. have announced the completion of their integration, effective immediately. They say that the combined organization represents a powerful new force in maritime services along the Lower Mississippi River and U.S. Gulf and East Coasts. Going forward, all operations will be conducted under the Moran Towing Corporation name.

Moran has operated in New Orleans since 2006, building lasting relationships with port partners, customers, and maritime workers across the region. Bisso Towboat, founded in 1890, spent 135 years earning a reputation as a premier ship assist operator on the Lower Mississippi River, running the only all tractor-tug fleet on the river, with 11 vessels averaging just 12 years in age and a combined 51,056 horsepower. That fleet, along with 78 skilled personnel including 61 mariners and 17 shoreside staff, is now part of the Moran Family.

Bisso Towboat was represented in the transaction by Legacy Capital LLC and Phelps Dunbar LLP.

“The completion of this integration is a significant milestone for Moran, and one that reflects the tireless effort and professionalism of both organizations,” said Ted Tregurtha, CEO & resident, Moran Towing Corporation. “Bisso’s people and their commitment to excellence made this a seamless transition, and we are proud to welcome them to the Moran team as we continue to strengthen our presencTed Tregurthae on the Lower Mississippi River.”

“The strength of this combined organization goes beyond fleet size or geographic reach. It is rooted in the talent, experience, and shared values of the people who make it run every day,” said Scott Slatten, strategic advisor, Moran Towing Corporation. “Together,we are exceptionally well positioned to meet the evolving demands of our customers well into the future. We are proud of what Bisso built over 135 years, and confident that this legacy will carry forward under the Moran name.”

A combined force in Gulf Coast maritime services

Effective July 1, 2026, all Bisso Towboat operations are fully integrated into Moran Towing Corporation. Customers will experience no disruption to service, schedules or contracts with the same experience crews and modern fleet remain in place, now backed by Moran’s broader network across 17 ports and 7 LNG terminals on the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts. The former Bisso headquarters in New Orleans will remain an active Moran operations base.

The integration adds significant depth to Moran’s Gulf Coast capabilities, combining Bisso’s tractor-tug expertise and river relationships with Moran’s extensive infrastructure in LNG terminal services, liquid and dry bulk cargo transport, environmental services and commercial diving and marine construction.

Going forward, all operations will be conducted under the Moran Towing Corporation name.
