JANUARY 19, 2015 — The world’s largest shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), has launched the Hyundai Marine Service Center in Ulsan, South Korea, by merging the after sales service units of three shipyards: HHI, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, including their overseas service offices in Rotterdam, Dubai, Singapore and Houston.

HHI also intends to incorporate the service units of Engine & Machinery Division and Electro-Electric Systems Division into the center at a later stage.

The shipbuilder says the integration is aimed at accommodating the growing customer needs for a single point of contact and comprehensive services for all Hyundai brand ships both during and after the warranty period. With the establishment of a centralized service center, HHI envisages offering “one stop service” for its clients, providing prompt solutions for their diverse needs.

The center is also equipped with an integrated computerized feedback system for monitoring and troubleshooting to prevent the recurrence of problems. In addition, with the goal of providing its clients with quality service for the entire lifespan of their vessels, HHI plans to offer expanded scope of services including technical services, sales of spare parts and retrofitting on demand.
