OCTOBER 9, 2017 — Austal USA, Mobile, AL, and Lockheed Martin Corp., Baltimore, MD, are each being awarded a Navy contract for a littoral combat ship (LCS). In each case, the award is a “not to exceed the congressional cost cap of $584,200,000 fixed price incentive firm target modification to a previously awarded contract.”

The Navy expects to release a competitive solicitation(s) for additional LCS class ships in future years, and therefore the specific contract award amount for these ships is considered source selection sensitive information.

The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, DC, is the contracting activity.

Austal USA builds the trimaran Independence class LCS variant. Team Lockheed Martin, which includes shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine, builds the monohull Freedom variant.
