Shipyard employee charged in fires on nuclear sub
Written by Nick BlenkeyJULY 23, 2012 — Casey James Fury, a civilian employee working as a painter and sandblaster at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, has been charged with two counts of arson in relation to fires aboard the submarine USS Miami. The fires, which broke on May 23 and June 16 while the submarine was undergoing work at the shipyard, are estimated to have caused $400 million in damages to the vessel.
