Detyens wins T-AOE 8 drydocking contract

USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8).

MAY 16, 2017 — Detyens Shipyards Inc., Charleston, South Carolina, is being awarded a $12,295,617 firm-fixed-price contract for 75 calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and drydocking of the USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8).

The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the total contract value to $13,903,325.

Work will include general services for ship, clean and gas free tanks, void and cofferdams and spaces, shipyard support for American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) close up inspection, ABS tank inspection and testing, ABS loadline, flight deck non-skid renewal, flight deck safety nets repair and preservation, lube oil purifier controller upgrade, replace lube oil purifier heaters, ship wide stuffing tube replacement, auxiliary boiler inspection, install gas turbine flow meters, replace stern tube saltwater cooling piping, install boiler and ship service diesel generator fuel meters, sea valves (ABS), dry docking and undocking, starboard stern tube shaft bearing linear replacement, underwater hull cleaning and painting, freeboard cleaning and painting, cathelco sea chest protection system, and main propulsion shafting.

Work will be performed in Charleston, South Carolina, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 28, 2017. Fiscal 2017 maintenance and repair funding in the amount of $13,573,032 will be obligated at the time of award, all of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

This contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities website with three offers received and one selected for award.

The U. S. Navy Military Sealift Command, Norfolk, Virginia, is the contracting activity (N32205-17-C-4209).
