BIW gets another $8.7 million for DDG 1000 work

AUGUST 22, 2016 — Bath Iron Works, Bath, Maine, is being awarded an $8,750,380 cost-plus-fixed fee modification to previously awarded USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000) construction contract (N00024-06-C-2303) for post hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) sail away, transit, and post-delivery availability advanced planning support efforts for DDG 1000.

The awarded modification will provide for DDG 1000 shore support between HM&E delivery and sail away, sail around support activities for DDG 1000 through transit to the ship’s homeport in San Diego, California, including: industrial work in support of ship operations; configuration management; integrated logistics support; kitting and fabrication; 4E Specification development; and long lead time material and spare part procurements.

Work will be performed in San Diego, California (51 percent); and Bath, Maine (49 percent), and is expected to be completed by July 2017. Fiscal 2015 and 2016 shipbuilding and conversion (Navy) funding in the amount of $8,750,380 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

The contract was not competitively procured.
