SEPTEMBER 12, 2016—Cylinder oil lubrication has become increasingly more complex with the advent of Emission Control Areas (ECAs) requiring the switch to lower sulfur fuels. On top of that, the move to slow steaming adds another layer of complexity and spells potential headaches for operators.

That’s why ExxonMobil and marine consultancy Fathom Maritime Intelligence teamed up to develop a report that examines the future of cylinder oil lubrication and provides advice to help vessel operators make informed decisions regarding their current and future cylinder oil choices.

At SMM 2016 in Hamburg, Germany, last week Marine Log spoke with Iain White, Global Marketing Manager, Marine Fuels and Lubricants for ExxonMobil, to gain some insight into the complexities of cylinder oil lubrication and the new report.
