Zamakona looks to hook more fish transporter orders

AUGUST 21, 2013 — Spanish shipbuilder Zamakona Yards is looking to build on its success in the well boat (live fish transporter) market, which has already brought it two orders (plus two options) from Norway’s Sølvtrans AS for Rolls-Royce NVC 386 design vessels (see earlier story).

Last week, Zamakona Yards participated in the Aquanor 2013 event in Trondheim, Norway, organized by the Nor-Fishing Foundation.

The biennial event brings together leading aquaculture companies from Europe and South America.

Zamakona Yards and live fish logistics and handling equipment specialist MMC Group AS made a presentation for several wellboat shipowners highlighting the first Sølvtrans vessel, the Ronja Polaris, which was developed as joint construction project by Zamakona and MMC.
