FEBRUARY 10, 2014 — Houston -based Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc. is adding waterjets to its product line-up. It has acquired technology from Australia’s DOEN Pacific, one of five marine waterjet manufacturers in the world building waterjets up to 4,000 kW.

In an agreement reached after a year of planning between Thrustmaster President Joe Bekker and DOEN Director Mark Peters and Director / Chief Engineer Timothy Udvary, Thrustmaster will manufacture Thrustmaster DOEN waterjets in Houston for sale in Europe, North America and South America.

Thrustmaster will manufacture the full DOEN product line and, to meet the demands of large scale commercial applications, will also introduce two new models, the 400 / 450 series, that will extend the power range from 100 kW to 6,400kW.

Thrustmaster DOEN’s axial flow waterjets provide speeds up to 45 knots combined with exceptional low speed thrust and load carrying capability.

Thrustmaster’s 2009 investment of $40 million in to a 200,000 sq ft, dedicated propulsion manufacturing facility laid the ground work for the agreement between the two companies to produce large orders of waterjets.

As Thrustmaster’s Joe Bekker said at the opening ceremony, “What you are looking at is a large plant to build large thrusters. We are in the thruster business and we mean to stay here in the thruster business for the long haul.”

The manufacturing facility is supported by Thrustmaster’s global sales and service network that includes Houston, Lafayette, Rotterdam, Singapore, Dubai, Brazil and India.

For over 30 years, Thrustmaster has been providing heavy duty thru-hull azimuthing thrusters, deck-mounted propulsion units for barges, retractable thrusters, transverse tunnel thrusters, and its patented portable dynamic positioning system for the offshore, and marine industries.

The entire product lineup is designed and manufactured in house by a complete engineering department for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical design.

The Thrustmaster DOEN line of axial thrust waterjets consists of:

100 Series Waterjets are available in seven model sizes ranging from 100 kW to 900 kW to accommodate vessels from 6 m up to 20 m. Supported by simple mechanical and electronic control system options.

200 Series Waterjets are available in four model sizes ranging from 400 kW to 2,500 kW to accommodatevessels from 15 m up to 45 m with stainless steel jets supported by a complete range of electronic controls with joystick docking.

300 Series Waterjets are available in two model sizes ranging from 1,300 kW to 4,000 kW to accommodate vessels from 30 m up to 60 m with stainless steel jets supported by a complete range of electronic controls with joystick docking.

New 400 Series Waterjets are available in two model sizes taking the range up to 6,400 kW to accommodate large vessels with a complete range of electronic controls with joystick docking.
