Spay, Germany, headquartered propulsion system specialist Schottel reports that its Schottel do Brasil subsidiary will soon be able to offer more services to existing and new marine customers. Construction is now well on its way on a new service center located in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

The service center is being built on a 19,500 square meter lot acquired in 2019 that will be home to a spacious administration, repair and warehouse location. It is expected to open in 2021.

“Key aspects for the premises’ design will be a more efficient supply chain, sustainability, as well as healthy working conditions,” says Stephan Camp, General Manager of Schottel do Brasil. “Our customers are used to getting the best service and high-quality products from our team. This new facility in Itajaí, together with our office in Rio de Janeiro and subsidiary in Colombia, will permit us to continue providing outstanding after-sales services with more flexibility than ever before.”

The future facility’s services will conform to local content requirements and will serve customers across Latin America that are building and operating their fleets with state-of-art Schottel thrusters.

With a large installed base of many generations of thrusters, the new location will enable Schottel do Brasil an increased future demand to repair, assemble and maintain Schottel thrusters of all kinds and sizes. It will also ensure an even more extensive customer support.

Schottel do Brasil will merge the administrative offices and the warehouse facilities, which are currently spread out regionally, at the new location, which will offer more logistical advantages, as well as quicker in-house communication.

Schottel do Brasil was founded in 1975 and employs 32 people. Its scope of products and services covers the complete product range of Schottel thrusters and products, offering modern predictive maintenance techniques, customer training and door-to-door spare part supply out of its local warehouses.
