Maersk and Vopak to launch 0.5% sulfur fuel bunkering facility

AUGUST 20, 2018 — A.P. Moller – Maersk and tank storage operator Royal Vopak are to launch 0.5% sulfur fuel bunkering facility in Rotterdam that will cater for around 20% of Maersk global demand. Maersk will be an anchor tenant in the modified facilities and says the agreement will enable it, as well as any other interested third parties, to supply vessels trading with and inside Europe with compliant fuel.

A.P. Moller – Maersk says the project plays a key role in providing it with supply chain assurance looking at both quality and quantity of the compliant fuel. The facility, at Vopak Terminal Europoort, allows A.P. Moller – Maersk safe blending, storing and handling of different fuel types to ensure full compliance with the 0.5% sulfur cap.
