Crowley takes delivery of Aker Philly product tanker

pennsylvania largeAUGUST 30, 2012 — Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA (Oslo: AKPS), a leading U.S. commercial shipyard has delivered to Crowley a Veteran Class MT-46 product tanker. This is the thirteenth product tanker that the shipyard has completed and the seventeenth vessel overall. The product tankers are 600 feet long and have a cargo capacity of 46,000 dwt.

The ship is named the Pennsylvania and is the first vessel that the shipyard has delivered to Crowley under an agreement announced earlier this month that will also see Crowley  take delivery of the next product tanker, Hull 018, when it is completed in February next year (see earlier story).

In addition to the remaining product tanker, the shipbuilder is currently constructing the first of two contracted 115,000 dwt crude oil carriers for SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., Exxon Mobil Corporation’s U.S. marine affiliate. Both of these crude oil tankers are scheduled for delivery in 2014.
