Cochin shipyard delivers first of four Vard design PSVs

PSV05MARCH 27, 2013 — India’s Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has delivered Sea Tantalus to PSV Holding Inc., Liberia. The vessel is the first in a series of four platform supply vessels of Vard PSV 05L CD design on order at the yard for PSV Holding.

With dimensions of 82.5 m x 17.00 m x 7.60 m, the diesel electric PSV is equipped with four 1,200 kW diesel generator sets and two 1,600 kW input power azimuth thrusters.

Built to DNV class, the vessel carries the CLEAN DESIGN notation and is the first ship built by Cochin Shipyard to be fitted with a ballast water treatment plant. With accommodations for 28 persons, the vessel also meets DNV’s COMF, FiFi 1 and OILREC requirements. It also carries the LFL notation, indicating that it can carry low flash liquids such as methanol in specially inserted stainless steel tanks.
