Burger Boat readies research vessel for delivery

burger_FRVNext month, Burger Boat Company, Manitowoc, Wis., is expected to deliver the 60 ft Fisheries Research Vessel, R/V Coregonus, to the Wisconsin Department of Resources.  The vessel has special significance for Burger Boat because it marks the reinstatement of commercial boat building at the shipyard.

Designed by SeaCraft Design, LLC, Sturgeon Bay, Wis., the Coregonus has a semi-displacement aluminum hull. The Coregonus will have an overall length of 60 ft, beam of 16 ft, and maximum draft of 4 ft 7 in. Propulsion power will be supplied by two Cat C18 diesel engines. Other special features will include a moon pool, folding transom dive platform, gill net lifter, trawl net reel and two trawl winches. The research vessel will operate on the Great Lakes.
